PINK SKULL / Calavera Rosa

These are inspired in a skull ring that a found in an store, it cost me under a dollar, normally I don't use rings that big and that bright but I fell in love since I saw it, besides I just thought that the color matched Color Club East Austin and it did, perfectly!

So, I have: the polish, the crystals, the inspiration, let's do a mani!

Polishes: Color Club East Austin and Bissú Ártico.

OMBRE & MICRO BEADS / Ombre y Caviar

Today I have a simple mani, just an ombre with silver micro beads, i really didn't know how to place them, just started making rows and I liked how they looked of different length, it look like drops falling or something like that lol!

SNOWFLAKES / Copos de Nieve

Winter is almost here and I wanted to do something snow related, then I saw Nailista post where she did some beautiful snowflakes, I loooved it! she inspired me to do my own version of it.

I went for something very abstract where the snowflakes were barely visible, just a hint that they are there, almost like a bokeh.

SILVER & NAVY / Azul y Plata

Here is another one that I already posted on Instagram.
I hadn't use flocking powder for a long time, don't know why, I really like it specially in dark colors as grey, burgundy and navy like this one. I thought it would look very cool in a mix and match mani with some silver chrome details.

Read details afterwards:

LINES / Líneas

Hello!  I know I've been MIA for so long but I had vacation, then my nails broke and now I have to get ready for Christmas holidays, I go with my family to another state for almost a month so I'm setting everything ready (work and school) so I can go in peace.

This time I was inspired by a great great sweater, the brand is Carven and I've loved it since I saw it in Polyvore, is just fantastic, very neutral with just a pop of color, also I love everything that has lines and I mean EVERYTHING ;)

Beige and coral colors are darker in real life.
Polishes:
Black - China Glaze Liquid Leather,
Medium Grey - Color Club Lady Holiday
Light Grey - Color Club Silver Lake
Beige - OPI Did You'ear About Van Gogh
Coral - Ole! Mamey

31DC2013 ROUNDUP / 31DC2013 Resumen

Phew! I thought I'd never finish! well, in fact I don't because I definitely won't do Day 28: A Flag, I simply didn't found inspiration for that one, sorry but, even so I did 30 so it is not that bad. I really liked this challenge, my first one, it forced me to be creative and to try my best, I learned so much and I hope my skills are improving.

31DC2013 DAY 31: HONOR NAILS YOU LOVE / Día 31: Honra unas uñas que ames.

For my other party that wasn't costume required I wanted to do some scary nail art, I saw these Zombie Nails on Lyndar the Merciless blog almost a year ago, I don't know if she was the first one who did it but it was the first place where I saw this design and I've looooooooved it since. They are inspired by a print from the brand Iron Fist that appears in high heels, rain boots and bikinis. I want that bikini, is so cool!

Besides, they are very quick and easy to do because eve if it is messy it will look very nice and you can do it with almost every tool: brush, dotting tool, striper, toothpick, etc.

Polishes: Lime Green: Pure Ice Wild Thing, Pink: Rimmel Hot Shot, black and white acrylic paint.

31DC2013 DAY 30: A TUTORIAL / Día 30: Un tutorial

Here in Mexico scary season finishes until November 2 (Day of the Dead) and I had to 2 parties over the weekend, one of them was a costume party and I went as a witch, I painted my face, chest, and hands green so for the nails I wanted something different that wasn't of the same color, so I followed the steps from The Nailasaurus to make a patchwork nail art.
I used acrylic nails 'cause witches has very long nails and I don't, here is the photos that I took before I went to the party, I really liked how they looked with the colors of the dress (black and purple.)

Polishes: Orange: Pure Ice Can't Stop, Purple: Orly Charged Up, Lime Green: Pure Ice Wild Thing, Black: China Glaze Liquid Leather.

31DC2013 DAY 29: THE SUPERNATURAL / Día 29: Lo Sobrenatural

I skipped Day 28 because I wanted to show this in time for Halloween, these are The Gentlemen from, probably the best episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Hush.
According to Buffy Wikia: The Gentlemen were a group of demons that roamed from town to town, seeking out seven human hearts they require to stay alive.
This episode is awesome, almost the entire time is silent because the demons steals the voices of the humans so they cannot scream while they ripped their hearts.

I'm a nerd I know haha, anyway the polishes are: China Glaze Liquid Leather, NYX Frizzy Spots, Wet n' Wild Fantasy Makers in Rouge and the details are acrylic paint.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

31DC2013 DAY 27: ARTWORK / Día 27: Obra de Arte

Since I won't have time to do Halloween nail art I think this will count as one ;) It's based on the Tara McPherson artwork (which I'm a big fan of), and specially on her book Lost Constellations Vol. 2.

So, this is my little tribute to one of my favorite illustrators and I hope I did her a little justice and I say that it's Halloween themed because of the skulls, the bleeding heart and the little vampire boy, oh well!... ok... the balloons are not scary at all! he he

31DC2013 DAY 26: PATTERN / Día 26: Patrón

Hi, it's been a while I know but I'm fostering 3 kittens and they are a handful, anyway I will continue with this challenge, this time pattern, I like plaid pattern quite a lot in any form or color specially in flannel shirts.

I wanted to make plaid with unusual colors and went for yellow and grey, when I finished I thought it lacked something just a color to pop, that's why I added pink last minute. I'm very pleased with the results and the best of all is that it is very easy to achieve with tape.

Polishes:
Yellow - Color Club Sunrise Canyon
Grey - Color Club Lady Holiday
Silver - Bissú 248 Metalmanía
Holo - Color Club Beyond
Pink - Nina Ultra Pro Fuschia Rage

Have an excellent week!

31DC2013 DAY 25: INSPIRED BY FASHION / Día 25: Inspirado por la Moda

I'm not a fashion connoisseur at all but I try to take a peek at Fashion Weeks just to know how the collections look like. This time Spring/Summer collections are not that springy because black and white are the predominant colors for almost all brands.

I particularly liked this Alexander McQueen collection from Paris Fashion Week, I know is not very wearable but the color combo of black, white and red is my favorite of all time, and the patterns are beautiful, that coat is just to die for!!

31DC2013 DAY 24: INSPIRED BY A BOOK / Día 24: Inspirado por un Libro

The Martian Chronicles is a Ray Bradbury book and it's fantastic, they are short stories that tell us the arrival of men on Mars after the earth is being destroyed and unfit to live in, obviously the martians are not very happy with it and the consequent colonization.
Even though is a sci-fi themed book it explores and shows human nature and how, we humans, can be a real pain in the ass no matter where we go.

My spanish version book cover is not very pretty so I searched for one and this was what I liked the most, I love the color combo.

Polishes: Sinful Colors Snow Me White, Essence Let's Get Lost, Rimmel Hot Shot, other details are acrylic paint.

31DC2013 DAY 23: INSPIRED BY A MOVIE / Día 23: Inspirado por una Película

Sorry, I know this challenge it's over but I've been overwhelmed with work and have very little spare time but I will continue until I finish, although I don't know when. This is my first challenge and if I don't go all the way, my pride will hurt ;)

From now on, I will try (when it fits) to do Halloween related stuff along with the themes of the challenge because I looove Halloween and I don't know if I will be able to do some before it comes, it's just around the corner!
Then, I was thinking about doing one of my favorite movies of all time: Young Frankenstein but I failed terrible, making faces in a tiny nail is sooo difficult, that's why I have so much respect for Robin Moses, watch her YT channel, she is amazing! hope some day I can do nail art like that so... I have to practice, practice practice.

31DC2013 DAY 22: INSPIRED BY A SONG / Día 22: Inspirado por una Canción

One of my favorite bands ever is Beastie Boys, I would keep going on and on about why I love them for life but I'll just say that they make me very happy.

'Sabotage' was the first song that I heard or, better said, the first video of them that I saw and by the time it ended my head was blown, it was directed by Spike Jonze (Where the Wild Things Are) and became an instant classic. The characters are an icon and I think everyone who is into music recognize them, that's why I wanted to paint them, searching for images I found a wallpaper with a very simple abstraction that worked very good for nails.

31DC2013 DAY 21: INSPIRED BY A COLOR / Día 21: Inspirado por un Color

It wasn't hard to choose the color which inspire me, this is one of the most beautiful polish that I have: American Apparel Peacock, a creamy dark teal perfectly opaque, this is only one coat.

I didn't want to go for the usual peacock so I made an abstract one with leaf shapes that look like feathers as well with a golden stud that look like the peacock body. For the other fingers I just made golden accent with a brush and a glitter gradient.

I really like it, it has a autumny feeling with all the dark colors.
Polishes: American Apparel Peacock and Lipstick, Bissú 185 Corazón de Agave and 182 Amor de mis Amores, Maybelline Winner Takes it All! and NYX Be Jeweled

31DC2013 DAY 20: WATER MARBLE / Día 20: Marmoleado

Well, what can I say? I think a good amount of us hate water marble, and I tip my hat to those who have mastered it because it's reeeeally difficult.

For me, Simple Little Pleasures YouTube channel is the best out there, she is a real boss, I mean... she can even water marble with matte an holographic polishes! so I watched it over and over again to catch some tips but I learned some others along the way:

31DC2013 DAY 19: GALAXIES / Día 19: Galaxias

Looking for photos for this nail art I found a wallpaper of a purple one with a green nebula, fell in love with the color and tried to reproduce it. Like always I got a little bit carried away and couldn't help it but to outline with the turquoise that is greener in real life, don't know why this color always wash out in photos, maybe it's me and my poor photo skills ;)

The polishes: Revlon Grape, China Glaze Up All Night and Fairy Dust, NYX Pistachio, Color Club Age of Aquarius, Sinful Colors Snow me White and Bissú Violeta Neón.

31DC2013 DAY 18: HALF MOONS / Día 18: Medias lunas

I've had these snake print China Glaze appliqués for quite some time now and didn't have the chance to use it until now. They are sooo easy to apply because they are very thin and flexible so it reduces the risk of getting wrinkles besides, they have the right amount of stickiness so if you make a mistake you can move them and still get them well adhered.

The only thing that I didn't like was that there are no middle sizes, just little or big, only two of them fit my fingers, the other ones I had to cut them down to fit, is not that big of a problem, but... I'm lazy!!! :P
Other that that they are very very good and they say that are real nail polish and certainly look like it.

Paint them over with Maybelline Color Show Midnight Taupe and outlined the half moon with some random golden glitter.

31DC2013 DAY 17: GLITTER / Día 17: Glitter

This is a weird color combo that is just the result of wanting to mix two of my favorite glitters: NYX Be Jeweled: little green and yellow glitters on a dark teal base (middle finger) and Essence Time for Romance: very little and hexagonal metallic pink glitters in a dark pink, almost burgundy, base (pink finger).

So I just went with the flow and complemented with similar colors: NYC East Village as a base, with a gradient with NYX Carnival on top (ring finger) and just because I don't want it to look like someone threw up glitter on my hands :P went for a simple look in the point finger with the fantastic Bissú Metalarte. For the thumb I kind of did a jelly sandwich with green hexagonal glitter and the NYC polish.

So that's it... I think I like it after all, looks very festive!
