31DC2013 DAY 19: GALAXIES / Día 19: Galaxias

Looking for photos for this nail art I found a wallpaper of a purple one with a green nebula, fell in love with the color and tried to reproduce it. Like always I got a little bit carried away and couldn't help it but to outline with the turquoise that is greener in real life, don't know why this color always wash out in photos, maybe it's me and my poor photo skills ;)

The polishes: Revlon Grape, China Glaze Up All Night and Fairy Dust, NYX Pistachio, Color Club Age of Aquarius, Sinful Colors Snow me White and Bissú Violeta Neón.

31DC2013 DAY 18: HALF MOONS / Día 18: Medias lunas

I've had these snake print China Glaze appliqués for quite some time now and didn't have the chance to use it until now. They are sooo easy to apply because they are very thin and flexible so it reduces the risk of getting wrinkles besides, they have the right amount of stickiness so if you make a mistake you can move them and still get them well adhered.

The only thing that I didn't like was that there are no middle sizes, just little or big, only two of them fit my fingers, the other ones I had to cut them down to fit, is not that big of a problem, but... I'm lazy!!! :P
Other that that they are very very good and they say that are real nail polish and certainly look like it.

Paint them over with Maybelline Color Show Midnight Taupe and outlined the half moon with some random golden glitter.

31DC2013 DAY 17: GLITTER / Día 17: Glitter

This is a weird color combo that is just the result of wanting to mix two of my favorite glitters: NYX Be Jeweled: little green and yellow glitters on a dark teal base (middle finger) and Essence Time for Romance: very little and hexagonal metallic pink glitters in a dark pink, almost burgundy, base (pink finger).

So I just went with the flow and complemented with similar colors: NYC East Village as a base, with a gradient with NYX Carnival on top (ring finger) and just because I don't want it to look like someone threw up glitter on my hands :P went for a simple look in the point finger with the fantastic Bissú Metalarte. For the thumb I kind of did a jelly sandwich with green hexagonal glitter and the NYC polish.

So that's it... I think I like it after all, looks very festive!

31DC2013 DAY 16: TRIBAL PRINT / Día 16: Print Tribal

Tribal print is one of my favorite print, even though there is no novelty here with the pattern.
I would like to try more complicated ones, but the truth was that my eyes hurt really bad last night, blame it to working all day in front of a computer, besides I'm beginning to suspect that I need glasses :S

Anyway... what I was looking for was very bright colors over a dark one, thought black was boring so I opted for a burgundy and put a matte top coat, to give it a nice contrast. The studs were painted with the same polishes I used.

Polishes: OPI Every Month is Oktoberfest, Essence Let's Get Lost, Little Miss Sunshine, Lime Up!; Rimmel Hot Shot and Kleancolor Madly Matte.

31DC2013 DAY 15: DELICATE PRINT / Día 15: Print Delicado

Lace... or something like it... you see, the problem with me is that I never know when to stop haha, so this begun looking like lace but I kept adding and adding lines so, in the end, I don't know what it looks like anymore, the good thing is that it still qualifies as delicate print ;)

For the ring finger I used crystals over black just to break a little the homogeneity.

I used China Glaze Inner Beauty as a base and freehanded the lines with acrylic paint and Kleancolor Black for the ring finger.

31DC2013 DAY 14: FLOWERS / Día 14: Flores

My nails are growing so much, so I thought to make big hibiscus flowers without the shape get lost in a small space.
I really really tried very hard to not outline them, but I liked that it looks clean and simple with all the negative space, maybe after this I will, just to see how it looks?

Polishes: Pure Ice Wild Thing, Revlon Crystal Glow and Mad About Mango, China Glaze For Audrey and Fairy Dust, Bissú Lavanda.

31DC2013 DAY 13: ANIMAL PRINT / Día 13: Animal Print

I really didn't want to go for the usual (leopard, zebra, etc.) so I looked for another texture that it can be put on nails and I found this chameleon, I still can't believe that those are real colors, nature is amazing isn't it?
I don't know if I succeeded all that well but I think I like it, just because it looks sooo weird ha!

I used Bissú Neon Green and Yellow for the base and acrylic paint for the rest.

31DC2013 DAY 12: STRIPES / Día 12: Líneas

Lately I've been obsessing about orange and blue combination, don't know why but I like every combination possible, since real bright orange and really dark blue until a coral and a turquoise, etc.

This time I used colors not so dark, not so subtle and thought making the stripes with striping tape an that silver was the perfect finish.

The polishes are: China Glaze Orange Knockout, Essence The Boy Next Door and Sally Hansen Gilty Party.

31DC2013 DAY 11: POLKA DOTS / Día 11: Puntos

So so late with this, but I have loads and loads of work getting in the way :(

Here it is, a simple polka dot nail art I was inspired by an iPhone case. I'm still not that good with the dotting tool, can't get to make a straight line or every dot the same size *sigh*
Anyway I like the color combo, it's unusual but it combines really well and I realized after I finished that it almost looks like Twister!

The polishes are: American Apparel Peacock, Essence Little Miss Sunshine, OPI My Vampire is Buff, Maybelline Winner Takes it All, Bissú Corazón de Agave and Revlon Mad About Mango.

31DC2013 DAY 10: GRADIENT/ Día 10: Degradado

I must say gradient was hard for me!! I tried three manis before giving up and decided to play safe and keep it simple with my favorite colors: blue, black and silver, in the end I think it came out well :)

The polishes are: Revlon Midnight Affair, Essence Absolutely Blue and China Glaze Liquid Leather.

31DC2013 DAY 09: RAINBOW/ Día 09: Arcoiris

Rainbow Brite was the first thing that came into my mind with this theme, I really loved the cartoon as a child and I even had a RB doll. Those were the times!

I decided to keep it simple by doing just 2 nails freehand, the outline is always the difficult part and I used my three hair brush to do it, no kidding, it really has only three hairs ;)

Although my favorite is the negative space rainbow I don't know why, maybe it's because I've never done rainbows before.

31DC2013 DAY 08: METALLIC / Día 08: Metálico

I always wanted to do the word LOVE, call me cheesy hehe but I did.
Learning how easy was to make decals I thought it would be equally easy to make letters, I was wrooong! they are very small!... until... I cut it with a cutter and worked much better than scissors.

I used Essence Cookies & Cream as a base and Bissú Metalarte wich is a greeeeat color, a coppery pink color and a one coater as well.

31DC2013 DAY 07: B&W / Día 07: Blanco y Negro

Late as usual ;)

Here it is my nail art for B&W, I followed the steps in this DIY decals tutorial, first time doing it and I really really liked, I think it's a brilliant idea, spares you all the mess, it's easy to apply and you don't have to use acetone at all, at least I didn't because I cut the shape of the nail.

For this nail art I used the best black ever: Kleancolor Black, it's a one coater ;) and Sally Hansen White On.

31DC2013 DAY 06: VIOLET / Día 06: Violeta

This is my first attempt to make watercolor nails, I think that it needs more colors to show the full effect, but I tried my best to make it look like it. I had these duochrome studs and thought it was time to use it.

The polishes that I used were Orly Point Blanche for the base, Orly Charged Up and American Apparel Neon Violet.

31DC2013 DAY 05: BLUE / Día 05: Azul

Working hard on catching up. This art is inspired in talavera pottery that has its origin in Puebla Mexico, mostly is only blue on white but there are other colors such as yellow, orange, brown, green etc. This is the most common and popular of all.

The polishes that I used were: Sinful Colors Snow Me White and Essence The Boy Next Door.

31DC2013 DAY 04: GREEN / Día 04: Verde

It took me forever to upload this nail art, I did it 3 times because I wasn't happy with the first 2 and I think I never will *sigh* anyway here is my effort to make a pixel camouflage pattern.

The polishes that I used were: American Apparel Peacock and Army Jacket, Pure Ice Wild Thing, Color Club Happy Hunter and Revlon Matte Top Coat.

Hope you like it ;)

31DC2013 DAY 03: YELLOW / Día 03: Amarillo

I've been on a binge here! 3 post in one day just to catch up, I hope to continue like this until the challenge finishes *crossing fingers*
I was watching the other day the NikkieTutorials YouTube channel and she was wearing this yellow top with flowers that look like a tapestry, I loved it and I thought that it would look good on nails.

I used Pure Ice Show Stopper as a base because it doesn't need too many coats to cover like a yellow normally do, just 2.

31DC2013 DAY 02: ORANGE / Día 02: Naranja

I must say that orange is not my favorite shade of polish, mostly because I don't think it looks good on my hands, that's why I opted for a darker shade of orange, this is Bissú Amor de mis Amores which is just a fantastic fantastic color, but it looked very dark so I applied on top Kleancolor Chunky Holo Candy to make it brighter, this is, after all, orange not brick :)

And I looove negative space and studs, so here it is:

31DC2013 DAY 01: RED / Día 01: Rojo

Being just a beginner in the nail art world you always need inspiration and things that makes you try harder and after all just improve yourself, that's what I want after finish this Chalkbord Nails challenge: learn and improve.
I don't know if I will be able to finish it in time and do it daily, but I'll try my best.
Wish me luck!
My very first is just a circular red gradient.

MATTE NEUTRAL / Neutral Mate

Hi, late but here is my post of this week, I always wanted to do a matte off white, I loved it as it was but I wanted to see how it looked with a little bit of gold. Here it is what I come up with.
My favorite off white of all time is OPI's My Vampire is Buff, I use it a lot ;)
Have a great week! xx
